The Profile of Rev. (Dr.) Isaac O. Adigun
Born on 3rd October 1956, Rev. (Dr) Isaac Adigun had his early education between 1973 and 1976 at the Government Technical College, Ijebu-Ode, Nigeria, where he trained in Building Services. He obtained Intermediate and Advanced Certificates, Technicians’ Certificates Parts I and II, and the Full Technological Certificate (part), all from the City and Guilds of London Institute. In 1981, he proceeded to the Federal College of Education (Technical), Lagos, Nigeria, where he obtained a Certificate in Teachers’ Education. In 1984, he was admitted to the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, for a Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Education and Training. In 1985, he obtained a Master’s degree (M.Ed.) in Industrial Education and Training from the same institution. In 1989, he earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Social and Applied Psychology, with a focus on Organisational Behaviour and Business Management, from the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK.
For his technical, professional, and occupational training, Rev. (Dr) Adigun attended Balfour Kilpatrick (JKN) Nig. Ltd., Lagos, Nigeria, between 1978 and 1979 as a Trainee Estimator.
Rev. (Dr) Adigun’s professional experience spans several decades. From 1977 to 1978, he was a Senior Site Foreman at Balfour Kilpatrick (JKN) Nig. Ltd., Lagos, Nigeria. Between 1979 and 1980, he worked as a Mechanical Estimator at the same company, where his main duties included preparing bills of quantities, pricing, liaising between suppliers and the main office, project management, training, and liaising between the head office and consultants/clients. From 1987 to 1988, he worked part-time teaching and demonstrating practical courses for second-year undergraduate students taking Social Psychology at the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK. Between 1988 and 1989, he was a part-time Research Assistant at the University of Kent, where his main duties included collecting data, leading experiment sessions, debriefing, administering questionnaires, interpreting results, and coding data into a computer.
From 1989 to 1992, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Business Management at Girne American University (GAU), Kyrenia, Cyprus, where he was responsible for designing, teaching, and examining various courses. Between 1990 and 1992, he was an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Lefke, Cyprus (affiliated with the University of Brighton, UK), where he taught courses in the BA (Hons.) programme. From 1992 to 1993, he was an Associate Professor and Head of the Business Management Department at Southeastern University, Washington DC, Girne Campus, Cyprus (formerly Girne American University). Between 1993 and 1994, he was Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business Management and Vice President for Academic Affairs/General Coordination at the same university.
From 1994 to 1999, Rev. (Dr) Adigun was appointed Director of Studies for Management and Lecturer in Management Studies at the School of Accounting, Banking and Economics, University of Wales, Bangor, UK. During this period, he also served as a Visiting Professor at the Aarhus School of Business, Denmark, between January and June 1998. He taught courses at the Master’s degree level and worked on a research project titled “A Window on the World of Work in Selected European Countries.” From 1st January 2000 to 30th September 2001, he was a Principal Lecturer in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour at the Business School, University of South Wales, UK.
Rev. (Dr) Adigun is a member of notable professional associations, including the British Psychological Society (GradMBPsychS), elected in January 1990; the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (MCIPD), elected in July 1990; and the British Institute of Management (MInstM), elected in February 1991. He also received guest lectureships and visiting professorship appointments from institutions including the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration, Bergen, Norway; University of Hamburg, Germany; the Aarhus School of Business, Denmark; Southern Denmark Business School, Sønderborg, Denmark; and the University of Applied Sciences, Bochum, Germany.
As a scholar, Rev. (Dr) Adigun has 23 publications to his credit, with an additional four in progress. He has won several research awards and grants, including awards from The British Council in Norway (1995), the University of Wales, Bangor (1996), The British Council in Germany (1997), The Research Council of Norway (1997), the University of Hamburg (1997), and the Allfinanz Academy Grant (1997). He also received bursaries and awards from various countries, including Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Spain, Greece, Romania, Italy, and Denmark.
In 1998, he received an award from the Valvasor Science Programme (ALIS - Academic Links and Interchange Scheme), jointly funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology and The British Council in Slovenia. In 1999, he was recognised by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Slovenia. In 2000, he was awarded a Research/Teaching Fellowship to foster collaboration in Comparative International Management between the UK and China. However, he declined this offer to accept a pastoral appointment as Pastor of the Apostolic Faith Church, London, UK, in 2000.
In his spare time, Rev. (Dr) Adigun plays the French horn, enjoys travelling, classical music, and reading magazines and brochures from different cultures for relaxation. He was appointed the District Superintendent of the Apostolic Faith Mission, Western Europe, in 2005, and the District Superintendent of the Apostolic Faith Church, West and Central Africa (WECA), in 2021, a position he holds to date.
