ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

PGD Business Administration

 

The course is designed to give a general foundation in management to persons who have university degree or equivalent professional qualification in any management science discipline or related fields and who wish to go into a career in entrepreneurship/management.

 

For admission into the programme, a candidate requires a degree in any Science or Social Science discipline from a recognized university or an acceptable equivalent qualification, coupled with a minimum of one year post-graduation experience. Holders of HND in a relevant discipline from a recognized polytechnic, with minimum of Lower Credit in Business Administration and Management-related studies, or minimum of Upper Credit in other areas, may also apply.

 

The programme is of twelve (12) months (two semesters) duration inclusive of the period for the submission of a long essay (research project). The research project is meant to train students in problem analysis and report writing which they will need in business life.  The total workload is 39 credit units, consisting of 33 credit units for course work and 6 credit units for research project (long essay).

 

Master of Science in Business Administration

 

The Master of Science degree programme builds on the Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration or related disciplines and/or Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration/ Management. It provides a good opportunity for the candidate to broaden and deepen his/her understanding of business functional areas. It is also a preparatory ground for candidates aspiring to go into business administration and related fields as academics.

 

Admission is granted to candidates who have obtained at least a good Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, acceptable to the Crawford University, or the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration/Management. Considered also are degrees in Business Administration or allied disciplines including economics, banking and finance, financial studies, marketing, export management, entrepreneurship, international business, accounting, mathematics, operations research, commerce, insurance and other Science and Social Science disciplines.

 

The minimum duration of the programme is eighteen (18) months and a maximum of forty-eight (48) months for full-time candidates while the minimum and maximum study periods are 24 months and 60 months respectively for part-time students. For the part-time students, the Master of Science (Business Administration) courses are made up of three semesters of course work and one semester for thesis. The minimum 18 months for full-time students comprise two semesters of course work and one semester of thesis writing; during the period, the student is expected to choose a topic in a relevant area of specialization, the proposal written and defended, approval obtained and the research study completed in six months. 

 

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

 

The course is designed to give a broad perspective in management to persons who have university degree or equivalent professional qualification in any discipline including Business Administration and related fields and who wish to go into a career in entrepreneurship/ management. For Admission, the following professional qualifications are acceptable, in special cases, as equivalent qualifications: ACA., ACCA., CMA. and CFA. (USA). HND with substantial experience may also be considered. However, holders of HND and the above-listed professional qualifications are required to complete one-year PGD programme in Business Administration as a prerequisite for admission into the MBA programme. 

 

All course examinations shall be moderated by external examiners. The MBA programme is of four semesters of full-time registration. The fourth semester is for project preparation. The project is meant to train students in problem analysis and report writing which they will need in business life.

 

Postgraduate Diploma in Economics

The course is designed to give a general foundation in economics to persons who have university degree or equivalent professional qualification in any discipline including Economics, Accounting, Business Administration/related fields and who wish to go into a career requiring knowledge of economics.

 

For Admission into the programme, a candidate requires five (5) credit passes including English and Mathematics at the ‘O’ level; a Bachelors degree of not less than 3rd class honours  in any Science or Social Science discipline from a recognized university or an acceptable equivalent qualification, coupled with a minimum of one year post-graduation experience.  Holders of HND and/or professional qualifications in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution, with minimum of Lower Credit in Economics or Business Administration and Management-related courses, or a minimum of Upper Credit in other areas cognate to Economics, may also apply.

 

The minimum duration for the programme is twelve months inclusive of the period for the submission of a long essay. The long essay is meant to train students in problem analysis/decision making and report writing which they will need in their career.  A full time PGD shall run for a minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters.  The part-time PGD programme shall run for a minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) academic semesters.

 

Master of Science in Economics

 

The Master of Science degree programme in Economics builds on the Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. It provides a good opportunity for the candidate to broaden and deepen his/her understanding of economic theory and applications. It is also a preparatory ground for candidates aspiring to go into economics/finance and related fields as academicians and field practitioners.

 

Admission is granted to candidates who have obtained at least a good Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, acceptable to the Crawford University, or the Postgraduate Diploma in Economics, Management and allied disciplines. Considered are degrees in Economics/Business Administration as well as Banking and Finance/financial studies. Others are export management, entrepreneurship, international business, accounting, mathematics, operations research, commerce, insurance and other Business and Social Science disciplines.

Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting

 

The course is designed to give a general foundation in Accounting to persons who have university degree or equivalent professional qualification in any discipline including Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, and related fields and who wish to go into a career requiring knowledge of accounting.  The programme seeks to develop the competence of students in basic accounting concepts and equip them with theoretical and conceptual tools for problem-solving in private and public sector organizations.

     

For admission into the programme, a candidate requires five (5) credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at the ‘O’ level; a Bachelors degree of not less than 3rd class honours  in any Science or Social Science discipline from a recognized university or an acceptable equivalent qualification, coupled with a minimum of one year post-graduation experience.  Holders of HND and/or professional qualifications in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution, with minimum of Lower Credit in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and Management-related courses, or a minimum of Upper Credit in other areas cognate to Accounting, may also apply.

Also considered are degrees in Accounting/Finance as well as Business Administration, and any other closely related field in Management and Actuarial Sciences.

For the part-time students, the Master of Science (Accounting.) courses are made up of three semesters of course work and one semester for thesis.
