University Library

The University Library came into existence in 2005 immediately the University started, to support the teaching, learning, research and community activities of the University. Operating initially from a one floor old library building, the library now has an expansive ultra modern world class library annexed to the old one with fourteen en suite offices. The Library has an impressive stock holding of more than 65,202 books, monographs, scientific reports and 586 titles of academic journals. This collection covers all areas of knowledge especially the business and social sciences, natural and applied sciences, English and literature, education, agriculture, engineering, medicine, humanities and law. The Library collection is organized using the Library of Congress Classification Scheme. Furthermore, the library resources are accessible to users through the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). Presently, the library database information management is Kulmark, which is integrated database management software. Also the library has an electronic library where more than sixty branded computers may be accessed for online publications. Sitting on these computers is the EBSCOHOST database which the library subscribes to annually. This database consists of online journals in the Academic Source Complete, Business Source Complete, Computers & Applied Sciences Complete, Library and Information Science Abstracts and Green file. In addition, the Library provides access to JSTOR, AGORA, HINARI, OARE, the NUC Virtual Library and African Journals Online (AJOL). The Library has a special section for Nigeriana/Africana materials. Also, the Library houses Christian literatures on the ground floor which is open to church ministers, pastors, student pastors and researchers on Christianity. To enhance information literacy skills, the library academic staff teaches all 100 level students the course GST 109 which is: Use of Library, Study Skills and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), during the harmattan semester. Other professional services offered by the library include circulation services, reference, referral services, photocopy services, bindery services and library orientation. Crawford Library runs a wifi environment thus providing a total e-learning environment for students, faculty, staff and researchers.
